College Registration Questions and Answers:
Registration Procedures
Q: How do I register for the College?
A: A new online College Admission Application is required for any student who has not attended Santa Ana College or Santiago Canyon College classes during the Spring 2010 semester. All admissions applications and seminar registration is now done online. For details, please see the Registration page.
California Residency Requirement
Q: What is the California residency requirement?
A: Students who have not resided in California for one year prior to the beginning of the semester they want to attend are required to pay non-resident tuition. Non-resident fees are based on the per unit charge and factored against the unit value of classes. The per unit charge for non-residency in the academic year 2011-2012 is $191.00. This means that the cost of PSI seminars was the following:
0.2 units (8.0 hrs) are $38.20 (NR fees) + $5.20 (tuition) = $43.40
0.4 units (16.0 hrs) are $76.40 (NR fees) + $10.40 (tuition) = $86.80
At this writing, 07/16/10, it is unclear if there will be an increase in non-residency fees based on the California budget crises. Please call our office after Aug. 2 at 714-241-5823 for updates.
Student ID Number and User ID
Q: What are Student I.D. Numbers?
A: If you have attended classes in the Rancho Santiago Community College District (i.e. Santa Ana College or Santiago Canyon College) prior to the Summer 2009 session, you have now been assigned a new (7 digit) Student ID# (also called the WebAdvisor number). For details on how to access your new number, see the Registration page.
Q: What is the User ID?
A: Along with your new student ID#, you have also been assigned a User ID. You will use your User ID to access your WebAdvisor account where you can add, drop, and pay your fees. See the Registration page for details.
Application Confirmation
Q: Will I receive a confirmation that my Admissions Application has been received?
A: Your online application is processed in approximately 48 hours. You will be emailed your Student ID# and you User ID. You will need your User ID to register in the seminars. See Registration for detailed instructions.
Seminar Registration Questions and Answers
Seminar Registration Procedures
Q: How do I register for a PSI Business Seminar?
A: All seminar registration (the adding of classes) is done online. Please see the Registration page for specific details on how to set up your WebAdvisor account.
Last Date to Register
Q: What is the last date to register for a seminar?
A: You may register for PSI seminars throughout the 16 week semester and right up to the day before the date any given seminar begins (provided the seminar is not full). You can call the PSI office at 714-241-5823 for class availability or check your WebAdvisor account that you used to register.
Waiting Lists
Q: Will there be a waiting list?
A: If a class is indicated FULL, you DO have the option of getting on the Wait List. As seats become available, students will be moved into an open seat. You will be notified by email. Please know that it is your responsibility to keep your email address up-to-date. You are not able to Wait List more than one section per course and you cannot Wait List a course that will conflict with another course.
Seminar Fees
Q: What are the seminar fees and how do I pay them?
A: Tuition is regulated by the State of California. Until further notice, for the fiscal year 2011-2012, general college tuition is $20.00 per unit. PSI classes are 0.2 units (8 hours), and 0.4 units (16 hours) which will cost $5.20, and $10.40 respectively. There is a chance that tuition will be raised due to the California budget crises. Check with the PSI office at 714-241-5823 for updates. All fees are collected during the first class session unless the student's employer has arranged a billing agreement with the PSI Office. You may also pay your fees through your WebAdvisor account that you set up when you registered for the seminar(s), but only AFTER Aug. 2 due to the pay or drop policy. After the start of the semester, Aug. 2, you will be able to pay online.
Canceling a Seminar Reservation
Q: I cannot attend a seminar. How do I cancel my reservation? Will I still be charged the fee if I don't cancel?
A: Please use your WebAdvisor account to cancel your reservation for a class. This opens the space for another student. It is your responsibility to cancel your reservation if you cannot attend.
Attending Seminars Questions and Answers
Locations
Q: How do I find the location of a seminar?
A: PSI classes are held at many locations throught the county. Every course/section number in the class schedule is followed by the unique information regarding that specific class. Pay particular attention to the day or days of the week that a class is held and where it is held. Location is represented by letters that correspond to a specific facility that is identified on the Location Key, page 4 on the PDF file that was emailed out to many of you and on the Locations page on this website.
Parking and Parking Fees
Q: What is the parking situation and will there be a parking fee?
A: The address, abbreviated directions, maps, and parking conditions for each site are clearly presented on the Locations page on this website and on the Location Key page 4 on the PDF file that was emailed out to many of you. Please be aware that not all parking is free. Many of the off-site locations require a substantial parking fee. These fees are not covered by PSI nor are they included in the tuition or billing fees. Parking is the student's responsibility and should always be a consideration when making class selections.
Attendance
Q: If I cannot attend the entire seminar, will I still get credit?
A: Please contact Dianne in the PSI Office if circumstances arise that will cause you to arrive late to a class or necessitate your leaving early. Fulfillment of the state 75% attendance requirement for each PSI seminar determines whether a participant receives the grade of "pass or no pass" and whether or not a Certificate of Completion will be issued. Call 714-241-5823 to reach the PSI office or leave a message on the Feedback page.
Certificates of Completion
Q: What is the Certificate of Completion and how do I get one?
A: At the end of each seminar, a Certificate of Completion is given to each student who has fulfilled the class and attendance requirements of that seminar. You will receive this certificate only if you are in attendance at the time they are given out by the instructor. If you have to leave the class early, but do not miss more than 25% of the class hours and have previously notified both the instructor and the PSI staff of this absence, you may contact the PSI office at 714-241-5823 to have a certificate mailed to you. There are no other circumstances under which a Certificate of Completion will be re-issued or duplicated.
To get an unofficial transcript of your seminars, go to the Online Records System. Select Online Records/Registration on the top menu. Sign In using your Student ID (or Social Security Number) and birthdate. Under "Student Records", select Unofficial Transcript.
